Paris Requiem

VIDEO · 2006 · WITH PETER SCULTHORPE

A work in collaboration with Peter Sculthorpe based around his Requiem for Cello Alone looking at the non-picturesque aspects of Paris.

This work was made while at the Cité des Arts residency in Paris. My project was to focus on all the least hospitable parts of Paris that are never in the touristic photographic repertoire. The cello work is in six movements. Correspondingly, this video work is a "meditation in six parts". It is edited such that the images correspond closely to the music and its rhythms so that both sound and image appear to emanate from the same source.
