The Little Prince

A boy in a futuristic alien-clown suit reads the enigmatic story, The Little Prince. Behind him are filmic sequences related to what he reads in a literal or poetic way.
The story behind this work was when my older son gave The Little Prince to me as a Christmas present. He said that it would be great to read it together. I didn't. That was so disappointing on my part. Then came COVID and so many things happened including making us feel more introverted and reflective. People read more, and even revisited books from times past. In the meantime, I could see that my younger son was becoming a young man and how his temperament was changing. I made another special suit for him which was sort of sci-fi clown, made his face and placed him before a green screen. He read the whole book in one take each chapter (with pauses in between). Then I inserted imagery behind him — some of it literal, some suggestive and poetic. While billed as a children's story, The Little Prince is much more than that and in many ways a reflection by an adult on childhood. I am very proud of this work which was about a year in the making. It is a kind of visual music with many moods from the fantastical to the melancholy.
