The Secret of the Trick

A magician produces a dove in a variety of ways. The slow-motion reveals how it is done.

The code of magicians is never to reveal how a trick is done. For these works, or body of work, I asked a young magician to perform for me in my living room, while withholding his identity. Slow-motion is a popular and some would say clichéd device in film and video but here it has a operative function to disclose what is really happening, producing doves from under his sleeve, With colour reversed and naturalism undermined also makes for a beautifully meditative set of visual rhythms.
