After Sugimoto

In homage to the Japanese photographer, Hiroshi Sugimoto, these works of water, sea and sky are composed as painterly abstractions, teetering between objective and non-objective.
These were taken in Iceland on the black pebble beach. They hearken to the early photographs by Hiroshi Sugimoto of sea horizons. Whereas his works follow a bifurcated structure, these have three strips, in keeping with an abstract painting. All of the works are in colour and knowing this adds an added dimension to your perception of both reality and photography.
