Breed of the Dead

PERFORMANCE · 2011 · CHALKHORSE GALLERY, SYDNEY
We are always dying but it is in our best interests not to think about it 24/7. The is a performance about how we should never forget the basic fact of our mortality.
For 10 hours I lay in a coffin. I was clothed in a tuxedo and had a sad clown face painted on me. A row of random vases with droopy flowers flanked the coffin. The room was dark, but on visitor entry, a light came on and when they looked down on me, my eyes opened to look them straight in the eye. I made my own horror scenario that was at the same time brutally real. Several people were completely spooked and triggered. The coffin was not comfortable to say the least.
