Decapitated

INSTALLATION · 2011 · MUSEUM OF ART, GYÖR, HUNGARY
A series of installations in a museum in Hungary about the Vampire myth and its connection to greater Hungary.
Decapitated was at the Museum of Art in Györ, Hungary, the historic city between Vienna and Budapest. This is what I would call an anti-identity artwork that deals with my Hungarian identity. It uses the vampire myth as a point of departure to explore the way in which we embroider myths about our cultural identities in a favourable and romantic way. Notice the vampire cloak that I had bespoke made based on regional designs that I doctored myself in the embroidery. There is an installation of drawings I did with my son based on real castles and the imaginary ones — demonstrating how we embroider on fact.
